Why buy hand crafted soap from a local artisan when you could just swing by a big box store? For starters, many of the products in the so called "soap" aisle at the store can't even legally be called soap. Companies don't just label products as "beauty bars" or "cleansing bars" because it sounds good. It's because those products are actually detergents.
Let's say you were to read labels, and you find an actual bar of real soap at a big name retailer. There are a few such pro...ducts on the market, but what will you find when you read that label? Just so happens I have one of those labels right next to my keyboard. I see things like Polyquaternium-6, and Pentaerythrityl Tetra-di-t butyl hydroxyhydrocinnamate. Ummmm, yeah. Not real sure what those are.
Here's what you'll see on my labels:
Rice Flower and Shea Triple Butter Bar, 5 ounces, hand made with goat milk, olive oil, coconut oil, cocoa butter, shea butter, kokum butter, sodium hydroxide (lye), sweet almond oil, castor oil, beeswax.
All in plain English. Imagine that!
